The trick, of course, is to be more interested in solving problems than in having solved them: then you will always *want* there to be a better solution -- or else you'd be running out of puzzle material. Much like an avid reader never wants to reach the end of the book

Setting out to solve difficult problems is indeed an exciting journey. And a one I have been enjoying a lot. It's all about the journey since once a problem is solved, next one is outlined.

There's a balance to be struck here: Personally, I'm always much more interested in the things I don't understand, yet. Solved problems bore me. Therefore, working in industry, discipline is very important for me. Discipline to bring the boring but useful stuff into production.
