Nonviolent protest is an important part of any democracy. Armed protests where masked men brandish cheap assault rifles, with the implied threat of lethal violence against others, is the stuff of failed states. Never seen in a democracy

If you do not like thr government, you speak your opinion through voting, referendums, lobbying, advertising, assembly, or any other means of political expression. I don't think "threatening or intimidating legislators with weaponry" falls in that category.

rightly so and nonviolent protests are Never truly nonviolent. at some point emotion supersedes intelligence and somebody ignites unrest. small changes in crowd topology can control things from getting out of hand though
