The argument "we should reopen and let the weak die because people are losing their income from the lockdown and that will cause more deaths" amazes me. In normal countries, you don't die from temporary (or even permanent) loss of income. You get checks from your government.

What you're really saying with this argument is "the society we've built for ourselves is more ruthless and deadly than a pandemic" Having to stop working for a while (or working from home) should not be considered worse than catching a deadly virus

What's stopping someone from deciding for themselves that they should take precautions and isolate at home, e.g. if they're elderly or an 'at risk' group? Why, in you opinion, does the govt have to mandate/force people to confine themselves to their homes against their will?
