Ultimately, it doesn't matter which graph you use, since they're telling exactly the same story about exactly the same data. But I understand it's difficult to resist the urge to be pedantic on social media

I think there is a profound difference between what the two are telling: the most recent figure describes an increasing rate of infection; the prior conveys an increasing total number of infections. I would be much more alarmed at this point in time to encounter the first.
