The market is efficient! It isn't about the price of an asset at any given time. It is about having better information about the price of an asset than anyone else. You are paid for contributing useful information!
Even if you know for a fact that the price of a commodity will increase, stockpiling it may not be a winning strategy, because of the cost & risk associated with it.
