You can't hope to get things back to "normal" by reopening. Reopening means a second wave of infections, which means consumers will stay home independently of whether retail & restaurants are open. There's no way out by executive order. The only way out is test & trace at scale

It's not the lockdowns that have shut down economic activity, it's the virus. As long as the virus is still a thing, you can't get your economy back, whether or not you "reopen". That's why the priority should be fighting the virus, not planning the "reopening"

Unfortunately no, consumers won't stay home. Not all of them. Means that retail & restaurants will get their benefit, while healthcare system will collapse.

There's folks who simply ignore the lockdown orders. There's an enormous amount of people who wait the lockdown to be lifted regardless of whether the pandemic is over or not. The majority I suppose.

I really don’t understand this reopening when before lockdown time we had much smaller number of infected ppl then now, and now also majority of people still don’t wear masks 😷 outside as they don’t have them or don’t want to..So why we did a lockdown what has changed to reopen?

Agreed. If we just open up and virus spreads rapidly we'll just get an uncontrolled shutdown when vital workers stop showing up due to risk. With controlled shutdown at least vital services continue. Need ways to monitor and control spread before reopening

Testing everybody, everyday is impossible. Trace at scale is an effective strategy at almost no financial cost. Tracing APIs by Google / Apple will likely be seen as invasive. That's where an Executive push and prod will help.
