The dimensionality of data isn't the dimensionality of the encoding medium (e.g. images -> 2D data). All data can be re-encoded with a different number of dimensions. What matters is the dimensionality of the latent manifold. The structure of correlations in your data.

Arguably all of these domains have the same "dimension", which is the intrinsic dimensionality of the human mind.

Computing has a time dimension, so it could be argued it's 2D. Mathematics is static, so it would be 1D.

I see his tweet going not so much for accuracy or correctness but rather a pithy witty (maybe?) statement. But almost all the responses are hilariously pedantic. But I do agree music for one dimension just doesn't fit. Unless his entire collection is full of just monotones!

Infinite dimensions: Music, Painting, Sculpture, Mathematics, Life Isn’t every emotion a piece of art sparks in the perceiver it’s own dimension?
