I'm at risk of revealing my ignorance and suggesting a thing that totally already exists, but: the ability to export a trained model as a function (or similarly easily-used object) just for generating predictions, without Tensor flow/Python dependency?

what exactly are you trying to do with it? there is a TF onnx project that's got MSFT research support: https://github.com/onnx/tensorflow-onnx … tbh though if you really need to break the python chain I think this is where it's not a horrid idea to use PyTorch and its JIT tracer
