Lockdowns buy us time to set up an extensive testing + tracking + isolating system, which is the only way to contain the virus (before a vaccine). If you want to know when the epidemic will be over, ask yourself, how much progress have we made on that system?

Possibly dumb but honest question that I haven’t seen a through response to: can we not attempt a quarantine of the at-risk population? Based on the numbers , doesn’t seem we would overwhelm the system with the young/healthy serious infection rate ?
I don’t think they realize that when the hospitals are overwhelmed, people will die of things other that the virus. They will die from car accident injuries, heart attacks, childbirth complications, etc. when the MDs, nurses, emergency rooms and ICUs are swamped by the virus.1/2
Or is the plan to just let people with virus recover or die in isolation on their own at home.
I agree with you 100%, it just sucks that so many people get paid hourly / got fired and now they cant support their families.
I honestly think they still haven't fully grasped what exponential growth means, in spite of seeing it play out in last month.
