I often hear "ideas don't matter, it's all about execution". How course ideas (the quality of your decision making) do matter -- it's just that the *initial idea* only represents a tiny fraction of your product. A product is made of thousands of ideas aggregated over many years.

The best summation of this I've heard is that an idea is a number and the execution is a multiplier. A mediocre(5) idea executed brilliantly(9) is better than an amazing(10) idea done poorly(2).

I read the statement more as what matters is not to think about doing something, but to actually do it (and learn, and continue the loop... :)

... and what you do with these ideas? ie: execution? Execution is not about taking your idea and building it just as it is in your head. It’s about taking on the contextual challenges and opportunities in a way that helps you move forward with your “idea”.
