MLIR is a common intermediate representation and allows someone to write a program in Rust, for example, and it’ll go through HIR / MIR (as normal), then will go through MLIR, for the target architecture to product machine code for the model during compilation.

Looks like they created a abstract layer for their TPUs, as there are heaps optimized infrastructure that takes the heterogeneous approach. Not the end I’d say, but a new layer
