If you're around 30, throughout your lifetime you will witness humanity either choosing course-correction and self-preservation in the face of climate change, or getting stuck on the path to self-destruction. In fact, you're not a passive observer. You will have a role to play.
You're in a unique position. This time is your time. I encourage you to learn as much as you can today about the science of climate change, so that you will be able to understand the stakes, the possible timelines, and make sense of the successive phases you will live through.
It's the least you can do: educate yourself, and face the future with open eyes, a clear mind, and a sharp sight. Be an eagle, not an ostrich.
Question is whether intention matters when complex solutions go wrong way and make things worse.

While the environment is the number one issue for me, I believe self-destruction is a bit of an exaggeration. If we don't fix our problems, lives will be lost, but humanity as a whole will pull through. The technology in the near future is more capable than we think.

Meh. Climate change is slow and humans can adapt to those changes over the next several decades as we get better in preparing for it. At the same time, tech breakthroughs will lead to cheaper and scalable solutions to greenhouse gases emissions.
