I'd been away from Twitter for 2 weeks -- not by choice. Scrolling again today, and the stupidity, aggressiveness, and meanness feel overwhelming. Maybe staying away is the wiser option.

The great thing about Twitter is that you can read live thoughts from interesting people. The terrible thing is that any random troll can @ them their brain farts. Users can choose who to follow. They should also be also to disable replies from people they don't follow.

I don't get why I am forced by the app to give a wide public platform to these guys. Being away from Twitter was psychologically freeing -- no daily insults, no constant influx of gross ignorance and stupidity and dudes being mad at what they imagine other people are like.pic.twitter.com/u04dQ1WExx

Ice-berg principle. Behaviour we observe is the surface level stuff, we don't know folks filter (memories, beliefs, values etc.) their perceptions that ultimately lead to those behaviours...

The problem is wider than Twitter. Google, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube put the content of lambda people near or at the same level as the content from recognized experts. There is no critical sorting, separating clearly the content from recognized expert and the one from lambda ppl

I don't get it either. Sometimes it feels like being at home and people constantly entering through the windows, chimney, and every single hole your house has, without your consent. And then they start telling you how to organize your furniture or what they don't like about it.

FYI, it looks like Twitter is testing (and will hopefully add) the 'only let those I follow reply to me' setting.https://techcrunch.com/2020/01/08/twitter-is-testing-a-conversation-feature-in-q1-for-let-people-control-who-can-reply-to-tweets-or-not-at-all/ …

Google is one of the biggest companies in the world affecting livelihood of millions of people. I know it's not your responsibility to listen to any random person since you just work on deep learning stuff, but if Google had some authentic smart public facing twitter personalitie

Who genuinely engage with users, their frustrations maybe you would be left alone so that you don't have to engage with "trolls". You are a genuine person who is generally free with your thoughts on twitter, it will attract people who have frustrations with Google as a company.
