America thinks of itself as a land of fierce mavericks, but in my experience America is more of a culture of timid rule-followers where deference to authority is paramount. I mean, it's actually illegal to cross the street in America, and people take that rule very seriously...

There are 530,000 medical bankruptcies per year in the US (it's 0 in most first-world countries). If I'm not mistaken, the last time there were any protests connected to healthcare was in 2017, and it involved *hundreds* of people, in a nation of 327 million
