There is no qualitative difference between "interviewing" a language model by using it to generate lots of answers then selecting those you like, & the TV "interviews" of Sophia the Robot. In both cases we're looking at a puppet, and projecting human intentions & emotions on it.

Exactly my thoughts when I first saw Sophia. At an AI fest. PS: my personal opinion, It sounded/felt as if it's talking some hardcoded answers, the intelligence involved was in picking them..
