I think the more excited you are about the future potential of AI, the more realistic you should be about its current limitations, because it's only by facing reality as what it is that we can make progress.

I agree it is important to understand the current upper bound of AI/not overestimate the existing capabilities. But it also important to not underestimate current AI, and recognize what problems are *reasonably* solved. Both perspectives are important to advance the SOTA.
