(PSA: in most countries on Earth the national phone company was a monopoly and part of the national post office until ~30 years ago. This was not a good model for innovation, efficiency or aggressive pricing)

In France, the price of phone data plans and broadband access started plummeting when the field finally became competitive in the 2010s. In most countries these utilities are still very expensive due to cartel pricing
