Pretty much everything wrong about our perception of AI technologies (among both researchers and the general public) boils down to excessive anthropomorphism.

Do you mean "contemporary AI" or are you getting deeply Searle here.
Unlike Searle I don't believe there is any essential difference between biological information-processing systems and silicon-based information processing systems. The current gap is really functional, and will be closed eventually, albeit we are extremely far from it.
