I think an important part of life satisfaction is to find the things that really motivate you, and pursue then uncompromisingly. You won't do great work by constantly forcing yourself to do things that don't genuinely excite you.

My philosophy exactly. Just work hard at it and it becomes interesting, and fun! Step 1 if any discipline is usually not the most exciting. But I totally agree with the sentiment of OP.
