Imagine an algorithm capable of generating a Wikipedia-like encyclopedia from raw sources (e.g. from the Internet minus Wikipedia), at the same level of factual accuracy, edition quality, scope, and resolution. When will this be feasible?

The task may be narrower than general intelligence, but wouldn't you say this algorithm would have to really understand a topic to be able to compose an accurate encyclopedia entry? I don't think regurgitating facts would be enough.

The algorithm would probably need to rephrase some of its statements without invalidating them - and also check the reasoning against its own knowledge. If you include articles about maths, the algorithm needs to understand maths, don't you think?
