I mean, the text doesn't really exist-- it is in the dream. So of course we are dreaming of reading. I think people are reacting to the original claim, which said people cannot dream of reading. I don't quite get the distinction you are making here.
Simply put, you can *see* or *move* in dreams because the areas responsible for these things get activated during REM sleep, much like when you're awake. You can't *read* because most associated areas (e.g. Broca) are mostly inactive.

So dreams can simulate vision or movement but are unlikely to simulate reading, or generally, abstraction.
