Please make the papers you write available for free on the internet. No one should have to pay $50 to a predatory publisher to read a paper. You won't even see any royalties on that.

Your justifications for continuing to support (for free) the predatory publishing system are part of the problem. Rather, they are the entirety of the problem. You have power -- you have all of the power here. It's your choice. This is the world you created.

Yeah, I’m not sure he understands how this works. I’ve never had a journal ask for less than $2000 for open access fee. Faculty without very large grants don’t have that kind of money. Access is a problem; but, it’s not the authors’ fault.

Exactly! If I publish my paper in a leading journal of my field, it’s a mark of distinction, the journal accepted my paper and published it. If I just post it online or on @arxiv - anyone can do it. The latter is option for scientists that are already tenured and have a name

And release your code too... A paper that is not purely theoretical and that can't be reproduced technically is just marketing, not science...

I guess its now hard to change the whole acidemic system which relies directly on the strength of these payed journals , but any ways THANKS #SCIHUB !!

There still needs to be a structure in place for vetting. Self hosted material is generally regarded as less credible.

A ground breaking idea as a viral tweet would have way more influence than the same idea buried behind a $50 paper
