Not all academic research is meant to end up in production systems, even when given a few years. Instead, it’s supposed to be exploratory and pushing the limits of our understanding. Tbh, if we only published production research, the world would be a boring place.

I totally get that the byproduct is frustration for engineers, but it’s essential for the progress of science, and by proxy, of engineering.
