A vertical where this is very obvious is the self-driving hype of 2015
Everybody but Google talked a big game but Google who was further along than all of them was silent and realistically pessimistic. Now one of them hypers has murdered people because of it.

It’s endemic right now. Foreign policy is being written based on a overheated hype for AI, 5G, and others.
What about the industry 4.0 and internet of things hype? Nowadays, almost every funding proposal in my country has to include one of these terms. (AI, machine learning and "smart cities" are also hot words in proposals.)
