Can't agree more. @fchollet Point to add--> It takes one junky car to mess up the whole ecosystem..cars could go flying into buildings, each other or crush innocent people on the ground. Tragedies will be of epic proportions. (A malfunctioning part, sensor inside the flying car)

What about biking up a mountain vs. flying? Biking around an obstacle vs. Flying? Biking in heavy traffic vs flying? This analogy breaks down in real world situations.

Just think about the efficiency of salmon on bicycles.

This diagram does not include the additional costs of ground transportations such as longer routes and traffic jams.

I bet a parachute is pretty efficient. On the way down anyway.

Early in aviation, after Wrights brothers flying, there was a slew of articles in actual engineering magazines stating how inefficient & absurd flying is . Puzzling to me trend of smart tech people holding ideological views about certain techs when history proves differently

Conveniently ignores the calorie cost of creating and maintaining a network of smooth roads to ride said bike on. Reason a bike can be efficient is roads.
