Do you know that or do you assume that from seeing many bad UX of big companies. If you capture large market share then UX "needs" only to convince users to stay. On the other hand convicing user to switch is much more difficult and for that a good UX is essential.

I would also add- the bigger the company- the more they have to take into consideration localization and the use (or lack thereof) of UX components within different global regions.

Your second point is true and is why startups find niches to exploit. First point, large enterprises think they have the formula and concentrate on refining and consolidating. Innovation becomes a corporate activity subject to process, bureaucracy etc.

Especially true in the Enterprise space. Without a massive end user base like iOS or Android, Enterprise apps have some of the most archaic UI/UX.

Big companies feel the need to keep adding features to be seen as innovative. The real innovation often comes when companies have the courage to remove unnecessary features, e.g. CD-ROM, analog headphones jack, etc
