Learning: 1) Make something. It sucks. 2) Realize it sucks. 3) Actually care about it. 4) Find ways to improve. 5) Try again; repeat forever. A lot of people get stuck at either 2) or 3). 4) and 5) are practically automatic if you pass 3).

You don’t fail at something if you stop caring. Failure is only in context of wanting something but not able to get it. PS: Failure is a terribly weighty word. It’s really hard to fail in general. Rather than failing, we change our goals and that’s ok.

I think perhaps we crave surpassing mediocrity with an epic success whereas incremental improvements are less exciting and seem hardly worth the effort. Ironically I think it's the incremental successes that got us to the advancements of today and not just breakthroughs.
