With TF2.0, the easy of developing models(of course more people are gonna use tf.keras) and deploying it on mobiles(tflite with new GPU backend), I bet ML/DL on mobile will see a surge. Though it depends on how seamless the whole process is.

This is one of the reasons why I don't agree with people arguing for "another AI winter". With mobiles, ML will become a part of the masses. It wasn't possible earlier.
as much as I would like to see this happening. I reality can see that very limited number of teams, that have a clear idea what they need ML for. For bunch of other things they just pre-packaged things like MLKit API
