I think symmetry and other strong visual regularities only offer a fairly superficial form of beauty, because they make your design quite predictable -- even boring. I find it more interesting to seek harmony between richly diverse parts. Add unpredictability to elegance

An extreme case is something like the Apple spaceship -- utterly self-similar. I think a beautiful building is one that is interesting to explore, that offers a variety of surprising views that are all beautiful in their own way
