I think this basically shows how demand increased but supply didn't catch up. I agree with what you said but they are supply side solutions. The real problem here is the historical demand. These are times where higher education became essential for a job and +
people in position who can pay (or at least think they can pay) for education increased due to pumped money in the system.

@fchollet is perhaps asking what specifically drives the cost disease in education. My essay earlier this year explored the idea that the cost is driven by competitive pressure to consume precisely as much Wealth as can be generated by median Americans.
I agree, the rise of computer networks provides unprecedented access to lectures, research and testing. So, if traditional educational channels have become more costly, it may mean that they are more difficult to sustain or that the increase is fraudulent/disconnected from cost.
