Which species eat their own eggs?
Apparently some snakes and fish species. Doesn't seem like a very common pattern in nature overall (understandably so, as it seems quite wasteful to lay eggs simply to end up reabsorbing a fraction of the resources that went into them)

Presumably you'd be laying unfertilized eggs for the purpose of getting them fertilized later; if you were to start eating them you'd most likely end up eating all of them, and your species would not go very far that way...
