When you argue for perhaps more women in tech and the consensus response is that gender doesn't matter. Something is definitely wrong with the culture.

The only thing I disagree with your theory is that it pertains to scientific sub-communities, it's FAR more generalizable than that (speaking from my experience in finance and sports)

Based on dudes protestations, sounds like “science“ demands a complete reversal—make tech dominated by women, paid more, etc—and see if “toxicity” remains “unchanged”.
