What is the state-of-the-art deep learning model for relation extraction (= classification) from sentences? Is there a clear state-of-the-art one? PS.: Your book is the best I have read. On any topic. In any genre.

I am not an expert on this, so maybe better to ask e.g.
@RichardSocher. But I would expect that in a supervised setting, a 1D CNN (e.g. a depthwise separable convnet) would perform well, same as in related text classification tasks

Oftentimes a simple Logistic Regression would do.

Take a look at one of my recent works. Supervised models (for text classification problems) can consume un-labeled data thanks to the power of community. Network science helps improve machine learning models.

"We ran ... (~450K) of experiments... using 12 datasets, between diff ... preprocessing techniques and diff model architectures. This helped us identify dataset parameters that influence optimal choices." Is this research published anywhere? I'd like to cite....
