Naming is difficult, but in this case electing a name that's better than "NIPS" is not a huge challenge. Most combinations of random letters would do.

I agree. My suggestion was the Conference on MLAIS, machine learning, artificial intelligence and statistics, given most papers that are focused on at the conference are in these subject areas. Here in Massachusetts we call 4 oz alcoholic drinks nips. Lol
