If you want to become an expert one day, you should not get started by learning from amateurs. They will impart you with mental models that kind of work but aren't quite correct, which will set you back enormously -- far more than a lack of knowledge.

what you're saying is ideal but not always realistic for the large part of the world and I don't think the drive to learn more is related to who taught you first. It depends on person to person. A curious mind always finds a way to learn more and the path is not always ideal.
