I think there are 3 kinds of ambition. The first kind is to seek external validation -- money & status. A higher kind is to seek impact & legacy. The highest kind is to seek answers. To seek to see clearly. What's really going on in this universe? Ambition is a selfish thing.
No, don't take "higher" to mean "nobler". It's not some empty value judgment. It means more ambitious. Getting rich is easy. Making your mark on the world and having your name remembered is harder. But figuring out the meaning of all this? Now here's a challenge.
what about internal validation? like the feeling that you’re not going to be accepted if you failed that ambition
As much as I like this ranking (it flatters my ego), I have to wonder in what objective sense the 3rd kind of ambition is superior to the 2nd and the 2nd to the 1st
To me, all 3 boil down to a drive for legacy. It's the only thing that ensures survival. But legacy can take several forms - Broad: your name in historical record. Narrow: your child. Ambition is selfish until you decide what it's for. I seek ____ *so that I may ____*.
The ambition to help and make the surroundings better ? (like the selfless ambition of buddhism)
Sounds like anonymous impact and legacy. What could be better than becoming the best version of yourself by improving to the greatest extent the greatest extension of your surroundings?

I wonder if people of #3 also experience #1 and #2 until they get to #3. or dont they.. I feel like this at least, and right now little bit over #2 but not at #3 yet
Human brains are too limited to understand what's really going on in this universe. We use flawed broken models to mind about real physical processes. I think, we need to seek answers on practical questions that will make our world better place :)
The third is only our natural (unrestricted) desire to know. Not really a form of ‘ambition’.
