A pillar of Athenian democracy was sortition: selecting officials at random among a large pool of valid candidates. It can be very effective at preventing tribalism and corruption.

Imagine a country where the Senate is composed of 100 random people, serving for one year, selected among all citizen between 30 and 60 who have a law degree.

The more randomness in your system, the less vulnerable it will be to attacks (reaching and maintaining power through bribes, propaganda, etc). Democracy design needs more security awareness

I believe that there was also a law wherby the state was compensated from the selected official's private assets, if the official caused the state any financial damage.. just to make sure..

I have always thought that every ballot should have a "Random" option listed, where if that candidate wins, they pull someone out of the Jury pool. This prevents a race to the bottom.
