Granted, a lot of the companies on HN's Who is Hiring tend to chase buzzwords rather than match needs.

I was about to say something along those lines. I know for a fact that most recruiters AND DS/ML managers have no clue what skills are actually necessary for the jobs they are hiring.

Did you limit your analysis on the job skills people are hiring machine learning and deep learning engineers? I could see a lot of startups that post on Whos hiring are companies applying AI/ML and skewing the analysis.

the only company using Pytorch at recsys admitted they had to rewrite it all in TF when somebody asked them about deployment....
