Occasionally I come across papers that make impossible claims. Usually, they don't even seem to be aware that the claims are impossible, and they don't even attempt to address what could be going on to explain the violation of first principles.

...1) provide incontrovertible evidence and plenty of means of reproduction, 2) explicitly address why you think the foundational assumption was mistaken. If you aren't even aware of the existence of that assumption and the significance of its violation, your paper is pure BS.

At least, one good point is that I don't need to read much further than the abstract to discard these papers.
