The San Francisco bay area could be the new Tokyo bay area. Instead it's mostly parking lots and single-story cardboard bungalows built in the 1970s. Valued at over a million dollars. Tragic.https://twitter.com/benedictevans/status/1042839370661650432 …

This is what talented tech people do? They can’t voice out over policies.

And many of the people have no idea why density is good. Not sure it has to be Tokyo but Paris or London density would be a huge improvement.

Picked Tokyo not so much for density but because it has the best infrastructure & highest life quality I've seen anywhere. SV, with its bungalows, potholes, & overhead power lines, feels like a wasteland. Sprinkled w/ office parks home to the most valuable companies on the planet

I interpret his comment to mean that the land use is wasteful from the perspective of housing availability.

You can go for a run, but you have to stop every quarter mile and wait to cross the street. You can walk, but you can’t walk *to* very much.

I'm glad to see someone addressing the horrid living conditions in the bay. I lived in Oakland for 10 years and threw in the towel. Grew Tired of living in 3rd world conditions and paying $2000 for a 1 bedroom built in 1895. The lead in the shower water started to get to me.

Maybe these glaring inequities will help "progessives" better understand the finer points of economics. Such as: Monopolies and taxes are both bad!

What’s the solution? Force eminent domain, kick people out of their homes and allow corporations to build more spaceships at will? Great idea.
