Personally, I am deeply skeptical of brain-computer interfaces for consumer use cases, because existing physical interfaces such as screens and keyboards do not represent a meaningful bottleneck to our use of technology

If screen + mouse + keyboard is good enough for a 300 APM pro-gamer, it's good enough for you. The friction of physical micro-movement is just not significant compared to the speed at which the mind itself moves

The mind is a slow beast, with its most basic reactions occurring on a timescale of 100ms. Grasping nontrival abstract concepts requires entire *seconds*

Maybe it could work the other way around though. Having a BCI pre-filter sensory input for your brain. I mean, it sounds even scarier (imagine if large copyright owner companies could filter out their material from your senses), but still.

Do you think this might mean that the technology of reading/writing might just be bad medium for transmitting info? I think we can consume a lot more bandwidth when medium is images

Orders of magnitude to pull off, yes, but BCI represents not reading, but a body of work and its analysis, absorption, and integration instantaneously A screen is C++ and languages of interpretation, BCI is installed firmware I have to be missing what you're meaning

Does not speed reading work? Is 700 words per minute a speed reading?

Isn't reading slow, exactly because alphabets(or logograms) are purposefully abstract? There are times I can comprehend much faster than I read. For example; when I notice a truck, driving towards me, right before I step on the cross walk.
