The brain, with its self-similar structure, most likely implements a kind of universal information processing substrate -- for example, if you redirect visual input to the auditory cortex in mice, they learn to see with their auditory cortex.

More brains interacting with each other, and faster brains, probably scales up a lot

The bottleneck to applying human intelligence isn’t brain size, it’s social capacity. We already have many people 2x smarter than average and they aren’t generally able to deliver 2x the value to whatever they’re doing.

Correlation between brain volume and IQ is 0.3-0.4 though: https://neuroscience.stanford.edu/news/ask-neuroscientist-does-bigger-brain-make-you-smarter … You would likely see some benefit?

Wouldn't we have easily been able to say "the bottleneck to scaling chimpanzee intelligence is not the brain", for exactly the same reasons, though? And yet we exist, vastly smarter, with only some small changes in DNA and brain architecture...

“Thus, brain size may have less of a relationship with behavioural repertoire and cognitive capacity than generally assumed, prompting the question of what large brains are for. “ fromhttps://www.cell.com/current-biology/fulltext/S0960-9822(09)01597-8?_returnURL=https%3A%2F%2Flinkinghub.elsevier.com%2Fretrieve%2Fpii%2FS0960982209015978%3Fshowall%3Dtrue …

There is also a chance that to scale a brain correctly you need a evolutionary change in structure. Also I think to answer this we need to know what are key factors(dimensions) of cognictions and inteligence. those should not be one-dimensional things as most would assume.

I agree with this point. Also I think this is a strong argument against sudden AI explosion (even I believe such an explosion will occur).

I wonder if Einstein or Newton would have been to distracted, in the 20 teens, to have been so creative...
