Convention over configuration, then allowing all sorts of configuration (nested, hierarchically) IMHO, there's something more: declarative. I like configuration to be put as data, not as methods/functions It's easier to manipulate that way, with some exceptions

Tools are a reflection of how problems are though. Any tool is shaped by good mental models the best are used and others are cast aside. Any tool made (good, bad) shapes the way of the thought of the user. This is why learning diff. tools/lang is best.
