Violence, in general, has no place in a free society. The reason why the police is given the option to use violence (as a last resort) as part of our social contract, is to *protect* people. The use of state violence for any other purpose is incompatible with a free society.

How do you envision immigration laws would be enforced, then? Immigration laws are designed to protect the interests of the citizens. Not enforcing them would be a failure of the state.
