Too many people in the field of AI are chasing the latest fashions. My advice: keep your eyes on the fundamentals, focus on the long-term challenges. The important questions are still the same today as they were 20 years ago.

How do you know the brain is a stacked lstm? In science we like to over simplify to be able to mathematically model phenomenon. Nothing wrong in simplifying to study, as long as we accept that we do not really understand how things actually work.
