  8. Thanks to our advocacy, ~20% of the speakers in the Board of Supervisors' budget public hearing spoke in favor of FCPS pay & our organizing prompted the BOS to fund the 2% MSA. FCFT is advocating for changes at the state & local level to ensure consistent step increases and MSAs

  12. Fairfax only receives 23% of our funding from the state. The state also only pays their portion of a raise if the rest of the amount is fully funded by the local government. The local responsibility for a 5% raise for FCPS would be $100.4 million to receive $12.5 million from VA.

  13. Why are we not getting the 5% promised by the state? The Virginia Gen. Assembly approved funding for the state’s portion of a 5% raise for educators. The amount of funding each district receives from the state depends on the Local Composite Index (LCI) funding formula.

  14. The FCPS FY22 Budget was approved! It includes a 2% MSA and no step increase. An MSA is a cost of living adjustment. With an MSA only, all employees will stay at the same step on the pay scale but the amount at each step of the pay scale will increase resulting in a 2% raise.

  18. A healthy workplace culture isn't created by unilateral decisions made by those at the top, instead employees must have a say in workplace decisions. When professionals join together in union they gain a voice and the power to create a healthy workplace.

  20. As we come to the end of , some reminders: 1) Teachers aren't the only workers who make our schools run. 2) The best way to appreciate our amazing school staff is to make sure we have a real voice. That means , fair pay and real input.
