This is literally the same situation as the Terri Schiavo case: various parties disagree on the best medical interest of an incurable brain-dead patient, forcing a court to step in and decide.

The Alfie Evans case has nothing to do with insurance coverage, it's about child welfare. This toddler has a degenerative brain disease that has left him a vegetable. And courts have ruled it would be needlessly cruel to keep him alive on a machine.
