    Nick Opiyo is as involved in money laundering as Tito Magoti. As president of the TLS I advised Ugandan MPs intending to introduce non bailable offences that refusing bail as a matter of law and not judicial discretion would ruin their social fabric. I hope they understood me.

    I guarantee isn't involved in "money laundering" as authorities claim. A smear tactic, plain and simple. Also the height of irony that one of the most corrupt institutions in the world is accusing a supremely ethical person, like Nic, with such a serious crime.

    Now authorities in are arresting human rights lawyers. This, like many other recent abuses in the country, is beyond the pale. is one of the best and most brilliant lawyers in the region. He’s also one of the kindest. The last place he belongs is behind bars.
