    Evgeniy Maloletka, the Ukrainian photographer whose photos from Mariupol changed the calculus for western aid, sent me a folder of photos that haven't been published. It's some of the most horrible stuff I've ever seen. The Russians have killed so many children.

    Harmony meaning ethnic cleansing? Because that’s what Russia’s done to my people, the Circassians. For one of our 12 original subgroups, the Ubykh the Russian harmony was ultimate - they don’t exist anymore. The remaining 11 scattered around the world, loosing language, identity.

    Putin's latest speech claims all ethnic groups have lived in harmony in Russia for centuries and the kind of violent discrimination seen elsewhere in European history has never, and could never, have happened in the Motherland. Hm. Must check the derivation of the word "pogrom."

    Too early to be overly optimistic, also the Russian military usually does opposite to what it says, but giving the circumstances, Rudskoy’s announcement that Ru completed the 1st stage & now will be “focused on defending Donbas” sounds like retreat.
