someone please help me clarify the disctintions between sex addiction and high sex drive (high test, adrenal/thyroid output)

Disagree with the first part. Any behavior that results in a dopamine rush can become an addiction if it turns into a pattern of habitual goal-setting and subsequent behaviors. For example, a common addiction that flies under the radar is the addiction to approval.

These things go hand in hand. Anxiety/depression increases the odds of developing addictions because of the relative strength of the dopamine rush. "Addiction" as a term is generally used to describe runaway "reward system" feedback loops with negative consequences.

That's fine. You say that addiction is its own problem and not merely a symptom, and I agree. My position is that the problem you describe is essentially the brain's reward system being hijacked by some behavior. Chemical addictions occur this way, as do behavioral addictions.

I agree with that. I used the word "hijack" primarily to highlight the negative connotations of the word "addiction".
